Questions About Social Dancing for Adults 45+?
Find answers about our bachata nights, salsa meetups, and beginner-friendly events across Dublin and Galway.
Not at all. Our beginner-friendly nights are specifically designed for people starting from scratch — you'll find plenty of others in the exact same position. We keep groups small and focus on basic rhythm, partner connection, and having fun rather than perfect technique. Most people tell us they felt welcome within the first 10 minutes.
Dublin runs weekly salsa socials on Thursday and Saturday evenings, typically 8pm–11pm, with a 30-minute beginner section at the start. Galway meetups happen twice a month on Friday nights. Both locations offer drop-in events, so you can join whenever suits your schedule — no pre-registration needed.
Bachata is slower, more intimate, and uses a side-to-side rhythm — it's brilliant for beginners because you can focus on connection with your partner without rushing. Salsa is faster, more energetic, and travels around the floor. Most people find bachata easier to start with, but honestly, pick whichever music makes you want to move. We run both types, so you can try each and see what clicks.
Come solo — most people do. Part of social dancing is rotating partners, which helps you learn from different people and build confidence. You'll spend time with various partners throughout the night, and our hosts make sure everyone gets included.
Comfortable clothes you can move in — jeans and a top are fine. Bring shoes with smooth soles so you can pivot and spin; avoid trainers with grip. Most people dress smart-casual because it feels nice and you're in a social setting, but there's no strict dress code. Check our guides for specific venue recommendations.
Drop-in social nights are typically €10–15 per person. We also run 6-week beginner workshops (€60–80 total) that meet once weekly in both Dublin and Galway — these are great if you want structured learning before jumping into socials. Check our event listings for current schedules and pricing, as venues sometimes offer early-bird rates.
